Vatican II on The Promotion of Liturgical Instruction and Active Participation
n. 14. Mother Church earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to that fully conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy. Such participation by the Christian people as “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a redeemed people (1 Pet. 2:9; cf. 2:4-5), is their right and duty by reason of their baptism.
In the restoration and promotion of the sacred liturgy, this full and active participation by all the people is the aim to be considered before all else; for it is the primary and indispensable source from which the faithful are to derive the true Christian spirit; and therefore pastors of souls must zealously strive to achieve it, by means of the necessary instruction, in all their pastoral work.
“Christian, recognize your dignity…” – Pope St. Leo the Great
Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church is committed to fostering the Roman Catholic faith embodied by the wisdom, charity and courage of Saint Leo the Great inspired by the charisma of the Institute of the Incarnate Word to whose pastoral care the parish is entrusted.
We are grounded in the Eucharist and the worthy celebration of the sacraments. We are respectful of the Magisterium of the Church as we care for the salvation of all men and women, which the Church as a Mother offers to all. We promote individual and community prayer, the Gospel values, the respect for the dignity of life from conception to natural death and a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother. We are willing to reach out to the poor and everyone who is in need, either materially or spiritually. We are committed to do the work of the new evangelization as we work for the inculturation of the Gospel.
Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church, is dedicated to providing a welcoming sound spiritual environment that is rooted in the Gospel values and the teachings of the Church celebrated in the Sunday liturgy. We are concerned for the poor among us, and those in need. We are a community that strengthens Catholic identity through prayer, worship, and service. We are committed to respect the dignity of every human being according to God’s redemptive plan.
As we reflect on the treasure of Catholic Mass:
Useful recommendations: please, arrive a few minutes early, turn off cell phones and do not leave until the final song is over.
- We can prepare “the altar of our souls”,
- Be in the proper state of mind and soul to receive Christ,
- And keep in mind that the Mass is the most perfect form of prayer.
- Mass is “an admirable exchange”: we present what is human to receive what is divine.
